About the book
Friends for Life helps children develop a practical approach to experiences they may encounter at school, at home and with other people.
Children explore how feelings, body signals, thoughts and actions are connected. They practise ways to settle their bodies, focus their attention and use helpful self-talk when approaching different situations.
The book places a strong emphasis on taking action. Children consider what matters to them, identify people they can rely on, work towards goals in manageable ways and think through different options before deciding what to do. They also explore how to review their approach and try something different when needed.
Through practice and review, children develop a collection of strategies they can return to when facing new experiences. Later activities encourage them to apply these skills when helping others and contributing positively at home, at school and in their community.
Each child needs their own access to the book. Access must not be shared between children.
