On-demand Online Training
NEPS and FR have recently collaborated to produce the fourth of a series of on-line training
modules for Primary Teachers in the Republic of Ireland. These modules cover both
FRIENDS for Life (suited to upper Primary School) and Fun FRIENDS (suited to lower
Primary School) programmes. Teachers wishing to access these modules must have
completed teacher training and be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
The FRIENDS for Life training consists of three modules, covering the foundation theory of
all FRIENDS programmes, as well as the content of the FRIENDS for Life Programme
specifically. The FRIENDS for Life training is a pre-requisite to completing Fun FRIENDS,
which requires completion of the fourth module. Teachers who access this training will be
required to complete the “on demand” modules, at the time and place of their choosing. This
allows teachers to go at their own pace and reflect, as they work through the training. On-
demand training can happen at teachers’ convenience (5-6 hours to complete FRIENDS for
Life and 3-4 hours to complete Fun FRIENDS). The training can be paused for regular
reflection on the content. Continuous assessment is built into each module, which must be
completed in order to access the subsequent modules, and ultimately receive a Certificate
as a trained Facilitator. Upon the successful completion of the training and receipt of
certification, Teachers will then be able to register for access to the Irish FR hub. Teachers
will be asked to evaluate the training once it is completed.

programmes for Primary Teachers in the Republic of Ireland only. This will lead teachers
